Common Questions

What is an Emotional Support Animal (ESA)?
An ESA is an animal that provides therapeutic support to a person with a mental or emotional disability. Unlike service dogs, ESAs don't require specialized training β€” but you do need a letter from a licensed mental health professional.
Can my ESA live in no-pet housing?
Yes. Under the Fair Housing Act, landlords must make reasonable accommodations for tenants with ESAs, even in no-pet properties. An ESA letter from a licensed therapist is the key document.
Do I need a therapist letter for my ESA?
For housing accommodations, yes β€” a letter from a licensed mental health professional is required. Our licensed therapists can evaluate you and issue letters via secure video consultation.
Are ESAs allowed on airplanes?
As of 2021, most major airlines no longer allow ESAs in the cabin for free. Individual airlines set their own policies. Check with your airline before booking.
